The air is cool but fires are roaring and hospitality is always warm at many of our favourite wineries and hotels on the Bellarine. With another month of winter still ahead, make the most of it. Rug up or snuggle up and enjoy a cosy weekend sampling the region’s finest.
Well ain’t that grand!
The Portarlington Grand Hotel has recently re-opened after a multi-million dollar renovation and it’s worth a visit just to check out the makeover.
After a partial re-opening over the summer, the venue is now fully open and boasts several dining areas catering for different tastes and experiences. The Bistro offers relaxed pub fare in a beautiful space with a cosy open fire. The Front Bar is now open Mondays and Tuesdays for drinks and is the perfect place to catch up with friends for a drink and a gourmet platter.
Vino with a vista
The Bellarine is renowned as a wine lovers destination, but even if wine is not your thing, many of the region’s wineries also boast incredible views, delicious food and a lovely ambience.
Lucky locals have it all on their doorstep but if you’re visiting from outside the region, it’s worth doing some research first and planning ahead.
Start your journey here
There are more than a dozen wineries on the Bellarine and some of our favourites include Scotchman’s Hill, Jack Rabbit Vineyard, Terindah Estate, Bellarine Estate and Basil’s Farm, however there are many more to discover which all offer a unique experience.
A great place to start your journey is checking out some of the online guides available including Geelong and Bellarine Tourism’s blog Bellarine Wining and Dining Hopping or Forte Magazine’s guide to the best wineries, distilleries, breweries and hot spots.
